Did you know sex trafficking is only second to drugs in terms of criminal profit globally - about $32 billion* industry worldwide? And that it impacts children in our own backyard? Register for our half-day Sex Trafficking and Childhood Trauma symposium.
You will learn more about:
- How to identify children who may be impacted by sex trafficking
- The role you can play to deal with this pressing and growing problem
- Learn from prominent organizations working on prevention efforts.
The agenda includes several expert speakers from leading organizations, and a panel discussion on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Rutgers Law School on 123 Washington Street.
The audience: We want to invite everyone who comes in contact with children, with a focus on Health care providers (particularly organizations within the Essex County children’s system of care), social workers, school personnel, hospitals, clergy, daycare providers, afterschool recreation programs, etc.
What does this symposium intend to accomplish? The purpose of this symposium is to help create awareness in our community (Essex County and its surrounding counties) about sex trafficking and its devastating effects on children. And to answer one fundamental question, 1) How can any one of us recognize child sex trafficking when it is happening and how can we intervene in a timely manner.
*Family Support Organization of Essex County is a non-profit organization that is family-centered, family-driven. We provide peer support, education and advocacy for parents of children who have emotional, behavioral, mental health, substance use and developmental or intellectual challenges.
